Spin up new databases fast

You can provision a massively distributed Serverless SQLite instance using `create_database`. Just give it the organization slug, DB name, and target group. It's quick, so you get your agent working with data sooner.

Inspect database architecture

Need to know exactly what kind of libSQL instance you're dealing with? Run `get_database_details` for a deep dive. This tool shows the specific architectural traits of any target DB, which is crucial before writing deployment logic.

View all connected databases

To get a full picture of your data landscape, run `list_databases`. It enumerates every single libSQL Edge Database registered in the system. You can also map out where they live by calling `list_edge_locations`.

Setup guide

Set up Turso MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • openai-agents package (pip install openai-agents)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install the SDK

    Run pip install openai-agents to install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use MCPServerSse with your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Turso tools at runtime.

  3. 3

    Create your Agent

    Pass the MCP to Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Turso tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically.

  4. 4

    Run the agent

    Call Runner.run(agent, prompt) to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Turso tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.

agent.py
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse

async def main():
    async with MCPServerSse(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ) as server:
        agent = Agent(
            name="Turso Agent",
            instructions="You have access to Turso tools.",
            mcp_servers=[server],
        )
        result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
        print(result.final_output)

asyncio.run(main())

Common questions about Turso MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

You'll use the MCP Server to call tools like `create_database`. Your agent handles provisioning by passing the necessary slugs and groups. It’s all managed via your async context manager.
Absolutely. You can list active JWT Tokens with `list_database_tokens`, or revoke old ones completely by running `rotate_database_tokens`. This keeps your access secure.
This server handles database tokens and organization slugs. Since it manages credentials, always ensure your agent's scope is minimal. The core data type touched here are JWT Tokens.
Nah. Just use `list_edge_locations` and your agent gets a map of physical global Fly.io datacenter mappings for you. It saves you digging through documentation.
Yes, it is. The `delete_database` tool explicitly states this action cannot be undone. Double-check your intent before letting the agent run that command.
