Managing Turso Databases via MCP Server

The `create_database` tool lets you provision a massively distributed, serverless SQLite database. You just need to provide the organization slug, database name, and target group. You'll also use this capability to specify which client needs access, ensuring everything stays locked down.

Listing Turso Edge Locations for Windsurf

Need to know where your data lives physically? Run `list_edge_locations` to lookup physical global Fly.io datacenter mappings. This gives you a clear view of every potential location, helping you understand the network's reach before you write any code.

Handling Turso Tokens and Security

The `list_database_tokens` tool shows all active Database execution JWT Tokens. If you suspect a token is compromised, `rotate_database_tokens` revokes every pre-existing Token for that database. It's critical security cleanup; this process makes sure old credentials stop working immediately.

Setup guide

Set up Turso MCP in Windsurf

Prerequisites

  • Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

  2. 2

    Add the Turso MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the mcpServers object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Refresh MCPs

Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.

  4. 4

    Verify in Cascade

Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my Turso payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the Turso tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.

Common questions about Turso MCP in Windsurf

You connect the Turso MCP Server through your Windsurf settings. Since Windsurf is an autonomous agent, it can chain multi-step actions—like listing databases and then creating a token—without you needing to prompt for each step.
Yep. Use the `list_databases` tool. It enumerates your complete libSQL Edge Database registry, giving you a full inventory of every database managed by the system.
This MCP Server touches organizational tenants and tokens. The core data type accessed here includes the JWT Tokens and the organization slugs you provide.
Yes, the `delete_database` action exists. Just be aware that this is irreversible, so double-check before running it against a global libSQL database.
You can use `list_database_groups`. This tool gets the logical groups that are orchestrating your DB locations, giving you a high-level map of how Turso organizes things.
