Automate Time Tracking in Your GCP Stack

Let your Gemini agent handle Clockify time entries directly. It can use `add_new_time_entry` to log hours against a project, then `stop_current_timer` when the work is done. This connects your team's daily tasks to your Google Cloud environment. Imagine a workflow where a completed Cloud Build job triggers your agent to log the engineering time in Clockify automatically. The Google ADK makes these kinds of cross-system automations part of your existing setup.

Pull Clockify Data for BigQuery Analysis

Your agent can act as a data pipeline. Use `list_user_time_entries` and `list_workspace_projects` to pull raw time tracking data. The ADK's native integration means you can feed this data directly into a BigQuery table for analysis. Gemini's large context window lets you reason over massive datasets. You could ask your agent to compare Clockify project hours against your Google Cloud spending for the last quarter, all in a single query.

Manage Projects and Users with this MCP Server

This MCP Server exposes tools for workspace management. Your agent can get a list of everyone on the team with `list_workspace_users` or see all active clients with `list_workspace_clients`. This is useful for building internal dashboards or reporting tools on top of Google Cloud. Your agent can fetch the latest project and user data from Clockify and display it in a Looker Studio report, keeping everything in sync.

Setup guide

Set up Clockify MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Clockify tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Clockify_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Clockify tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Clockify MCP in Google ADK

You'll use the `McpToolset` class from the `google-adk` library. Just provide the server URL from Vinkius to the `StreamableHttpServerParameters`. The ADK handles the rest, making the Clockify tools available to your Gemini agent.
Absolutely. That's a primary use case. Your agent can fetch time entries from Clockify using the tools on this MCP server and then use native Google ADK tools to query or insert that data into BigQuery for advanced analysis.
Yes. When you initialize the `McpToolset`, you can pass an optional `tool_names` filter. This lets you create agents with specific permissions, like a 'reporter' agent that can only list data, not create new time entries.
Just `pip install google-adk` and grab your server URL from Vinkius. The documentation shows how to create a basic `LlmAgent` and pass it the `McpToolset`. You can start by asking your agent to `list_clockify_workspaces`.
Your data—time entries, user lists, project details—is streamed through an isolated Vinkius instance for each request. The connection is secured with your private endpoint token. Nothing is logged or stored on the server after your agent's request is complete.
