Key Capabilities

Type-Safe Notification Deserialization with Pydantic AI

This Pushbullet MCP Server integration ensures that every alert payload returned by `list_recent_pushes` is validated against strict Pydantic models at runtime. If the Pushbullet API returns unexpected fields, your agent fails loudly instead of processing corrupt data. By using Pydantic AI, your system guarantees that fields like device targets and push IDs match your expected schemas before calling `send_push_notification`. This eliminates silent failures when routing messages to your phone.

Validated Device Management

The MCP server exposes `list_connected_devices` and `register_new_device` to your type-safe agent pipelines. Pydantic AI validates the structure of your active hardware list, ensuring every device object contains a valid identifier. When you need to prune old targets, the model safely invokes `remove_device` using validated inputs. This strict validation prevents your agent from passing malformed identifiers to the API.

Bulletproof Channel Subscriptions

This server exposes `list_channel_subscriptions` and `subscribe_to_channel` to your Pydantic AI workflows. Your agent monitors feeds with absolute type safety, verifying that feed objects conform to your schemas. If an external feed format changes, the validation layer catches it instantly. The model handles the validation error gracefully or runs `unsubscribe_from_channel` to clean up broken subscriptions.

Setup guide

Set up Pushbullet MCP in Pydantic AI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • pydantic-ai-slim[fastmcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Pydantic AI with FastMCP

    Run pip install "pydantic-ai-slim[fastmcp]". The FastMCP toolset replaces the deprecated MCPServerHTTP class with full protocol support.

  2. 2

    Configure the FastMCPToolset

    Pass a JSON-style config dict to FastMCPToolset with your Vinkius URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. Supports Streamable HTTP, SSE, and Stdio transports.

  3. 3

    Create and run your agent

    Pass the toolset to Agent(toolsets=[toolset]) and call agent.run(). Swap openai:gpt-4o for any supported model — Anthropic, Google, Mistral, or Groq.

agent.py
from pydantic_ai import Agent
from pydantic_ai.toolsets.fastmcp import FastMCPToolset

toolset = FastMCPToolset({
    "mcpServers": {
        "pushbullet-mcp": {
            "url": "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
        }
    }
})

agent = Agent(
    "openai:gpt-4o",
    toolsets=[toolset],
    system_prompt="You have access to Pushbullet tools.",
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Pushbullet transactions")
print(result.output)

Common questions about Pushbullet MCP in Pydantic AI

Use the unified MCPToolset pointing to your Vinkius HTTP endpoint to expose `send_push_notification` to your agent. Pass this toolset directly into the toolsets argument of your Agent constructor.
If Pushbullet returns unexpected data during `list_recent_pushes`, Pydantic AI raises a validation error immediately. This prevents your model from hallucinating fields when parsing your push history.
Yes, your agent calls `test_pushbullet_auth` at startup to validate credentials. The tool returns a typed response, allowing your agent to check connection status before running `list_connected_devices`.
Your agent monitors connection status using `get_api_status`. If the API is unreachable, the toolset returns a structured error that your Python code catches and handles gracefully.
Your push history and tokens are isolated within Vinkius's zero-trust sandbox. Pydantic AI only accesses actual data payloads when running `list_recent_pushes` over encrypted SSE or HTTP transports.
