Windsurf: Automated Uptime Management

Set a goal like 'Check my core services and notify the team if anything is down.' Cascade handles the whole sequence. It first calls `list_monitors` to see all endpoints, then checks specific status codes using `get_monitor_details`, and finally runs `create_alert_contact` if it finds an issue.

MCP Server: Monitoring Status Checks

Need a quick health check? Windsurf doesn't need you to prompt every step. You just tell your agent to verify the status of all monitors, and it runs `list_monitors` for immediate pass/fail data. This gives you an instant overview of your entire infrastructure setup.

MCP Server: Updating Monitor Configurations

If a URL changes or monitoring needs updating, Windsurf manages the change end-to-end. You can use `update_uptime_monitor` to modify existing settings—say, changing an HTTP monitor's target endpoint—and it commits the change without manual intervention.

Setup guide

Set up UptimeRobot MCP in Windsurf

Prerequisites

  • Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

  2. 2

    Add the UptimeRobot MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the mcpServers object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Refresh MCPs

Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.

  4. 4

    Verify in Cascade

Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my UptimeRobot payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the UptimeRobot tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.

Common questions about UptimeRobot MCP in Windsurf

Windsurf connects directly to the UptimeRobot MCP Server. You treat monitoring tasks like any other part of your workflow; you just set the goal, and Cascade figures out the specific API calls needed.
Absolutely. If a monitor fails, you can chain actions. First, check status via `get_monitor_details`. Then, your agent uses `create_alert_contact` to send notifications to Slack or Email automatically.
The action is permanent. Using the `delete_uptime_monitor` tool removes the record completely, so always double-check which monitors you're targeting before letting Cascade run that command.
Windsurf can reset monitoring logs and statistics for a specific monitor using `reset_monitor_logs`. This is useful if you're starting a new reporting cycle or need clean data for testing purposes.
This server primarily interacts with monitor configuration data and alert contacts. It handles details like monitored URLs, notification types (Email, Slack), and service names.
