Key Capabilities
Generate new encrypted content
When a crew agent needs to capture findings or generate draft material, it calls `create_note`. This tool lets your workflow write a brand-new, fully protected note directly into Standard Notes. It's how you build the knowledge base for your autonomous agents. You can pass both a plaintext title and body text when creating notes. Remember that encryption is handled by the sync layer, so whatever your agent writes is kept private from the start.
Retrieve context and note details
Need to know what data an agent has access to? Use `list_notes` to get a complete list of all encrypted notes. This lets one agent figure out what information is available for another agent to process. For deeper dives, the `get_item_details` tool pulls specific context based on a UUID. Your multi-agent system can check these isolated items before deciding on the next action.
Manage relationships and sync data
A key part of any workflow is linking concepts. The `tag_note` tool lets your agent associate a tag with a specific note UUID, building out complex knowledge graphs automatically. You also have `create_tag` to define new categories on the fly. Finally, after all the agents are done and the notes are updated or tagged, you run `sync_items`. This makes sure every piece of data your crew touched gets written back into Standard Notes.
Set up Standard Notes MCP in CrewAI
Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
crewaipackage (pip install crewai) - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install CrewAI
Run
pip install crewaito install the framework. MCP support is built-in via themcpsparameter. - 2
Add the MCP URL to your agent
Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the
mcpslist. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically. - 3
Kick off your crew
Create a
Crewwith your agent and tasks. Callcrew.kickoff()— the agent will automatically invoke Standard Notes tools as needed.
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew
agent = Agent(
role="Standard Notes Analyst",
goal="Access and analyze Standard Notes data via MCP.",
backstory="Expert analyst with direct Standard Notes access.",
mcps=[
"https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
],
)
task = Task(
description="List recent Standard Notes transactions",
agent=agent,
expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)
crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result) Prerequisites

crewai+crewai-toolspackages - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install dependencies
Run
pip install crewai crewai-tools. TheMCPServerAdapterhandles lifecycle management and tool conversion. - 2
Connect with MCPServerAdapter
Use
MCPServerAdapteras a context manager withSseServerParameterspointing to your Vinkius endpoint. The adapter automatically manages connection lifecycle. - 3
Assign tools and run
Pass the returned
mcp_toolsto your agent'stoolsparameter. The adapter converts MCP tools to nativeBaseToolobjects compatible with all CrewAI agents.
