LangChain: Build Multi-Step Support Chains

You can chain together multiple actions to diagnose user issues. For example, an agent first runs `list_account_users` to check permissions; then, if needed, it calls `get_ticket_details` for a specific ticket ID. This ability lets you build multi-step reasoning pipelines where the output of one tool becomes the exact input for the next. It's perfect for figuring out complex support scenarios that require sequential data checks.

Finding Knowledge and Forums with MCP Server

Need to guide a user to existing resources? Start by listing available knowledge base articles using `list_kb_articles`. If nothing helps, you can expand the search by checking community discussions via `list_forums`. These tools work together so your agent doesn't just dump data; it follows a path. The output from listing forums might provide keywords needed to refine the subsequent call to list articles.

Managing Tickets and Users in One Flow

A common task is verifying user status before creating a ticket. Your agent can first run `list_account_users` to confirm account validity, then immediately execute `create_support_ticket` with the necessary details. Alternatively, you can quickly review all current helpdesk issues by calling `list_tickets`, giving your chain immediate visibility into the service health.

Setup guide

Set up UserEcho MCP in LangChain

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • langchain-mcp-adapters + langgraph packages
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run pip install langchain-mcp-adapters langgraph langchain-openai. The MCP adapters package converts MCP tools into native LangChain BaseTool objects.

  2. 2

    Connect via HTTP transport

    Use MultiServerMCPClient with "transport": "http" pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create a ReAct agent

    Pass the discovered tools to create_react_agent() from LangGraph. The agent automatically routes UserEcho tool calls through the MCP protocol.

  4. 4

    Run with any LLM

    Swap ChatOpenAI for ChatAnthropic, ChatGoogleGenerativeAI, or any LangChain-compatible model. The MCP tools work identically across all providers.

agent.py
from langchain_mcp_adapters.client import MultiServerMCPClient
from langgraph.prebuilt import create_react_agent
from langchain_openai import ChatOpenAI

async with MultiServerMCPClient({
    "userecho-mcp": {
        "transport": "http",
        "url": "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp",
    }
}) as client:
    tools = client.get_tools()

    agent = create_react_agent(
        ChatOpenAI(model="gpt-4o"),
        tools,
    )
    result = await agent.ainvoke({
        "messages": "List recent UserEcho transactions"
    })
    print(result["messages"][-1].content)

Common questions about UserEcho MCP in LangChain

You use `get_ticket_details` to retrieve specific tickets by their ID. This function gives you all the context you need, including who submitted it and its current status.
Yes, calling `list_account_users` pulls a comprehensive roster of every account in the system. This is useful for verifying identities before performing other actions within your agent.
The server touches account user data and ticket details. Always ensure your LangChain chain validates the necessary permissions before reading or writing this sensitive information.
Absolutely. You can combine `list_forums` with `list_kb_articles`. Your agent can first show a user the official knowledge base, then suggest relevant discussions in the forums if the article didn't solve their problem.
Yes. The client supports multi-server aggregation, meaning you can combine this MCP Server with other specialized services to build massive, cross-functional chains.
