Debate network authorization changes

You can set up agents to debate the best way to onboard a new peer. One agent might suggest `update_central_network_member`, while another challenges it by checking current permissions via `list_controller_network_members`. The system converges on a decision, forcing consensus before making any changes. This is ideal for policy enforcement where multiple viewpoints must be reconciled.

Simulate network status failure scenarios

Multiple agents can discuss the implications of poor connectivity. One agent might run `get_local_status` and flag a warning, prompting another to suggest troubleshooting using `list_local_peers`. This simulates high-stakes operational discussions. The MCP Server provides the critical real-time data that drives the debate between your agents.

Automate network policy negotiation

Agents can negotiate which networks need updating. They might compare results from `list_local_networks` versus `list_central_networks`, determining discrepancies and then agreeing on a necessary action, such as running `update_controller_network`. This moves beyond simple execution; it's about multi-agent deliberation leading to a secure network configuration change.

Setup guide

Set up ZeroTier MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes ZeroTier tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="ZeroTier_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent ZeroTier data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about ZeroTier MCP in AutoGen

AutoGen agents debate by calling tools like `get_local_status` repeatedly. They challenge each other's findings until they reach a consensus on the necessary action or flag the risk.
Yes. The MCP Server provides tools that feed real-world network data into the conversational flow, allowing agents to make decisions based on current operational state.
It forces the system to deliberate. Instead of a single API call, multiple perspectives review the network data, leading to more thoroughly vetted and safer outcomes for sensitive changes.
Yes, it supports both stdio and Streamable HTTP transports. This means your multi-agent system can talk to the ZeroTier server regardless of where it's running.
This server touches network membership and configuration data. This includes details from `list_central_network_members`, `list_local_peers`, and general connectivity status.
