Analyze Central Network Membership Lists

A specialized agent can use `list_central_network_members` to pull all members from a large ZeroTier Central network. Another agent then analyzes that list, looking for specific roles or missing nodes. This workflow allows agents to collaboratively audit the entire membership base without human intervention.

Manage Local Network Connections

One agent handles connectivity checks using `list_local_networks` and another verifies operational health via `get_local_status`. This shared memory approach ensures both agents are working from the same, current data. The crew can then decide whether to escalate an alert or proceed with a connection test.

Audit Peer and Network Status

The `list_local_peers` tool allows one agent to gather all local peer addresses. A moderator agent then compares this list against the output of `list_controller_networks`, flagging discrepancies. This comparison provides a comprehensive audit report, acting as a critical pre-deployment check for your autonomous operations.

Setup guide

Set up ZeroTier MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke ZeroTier tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="ZeroTier Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze ZeroTier data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct ZeroTier access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent ZeroTier transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)

Common questions about ZeroTier MCP in CrewAI

CrewAI assigns roles—like 'Network Auditor' or 'Connectivity Specialist'—to agents. Each agent uses a tool like `list_local_peers` and passes its findings to the shared memory for collective decision-making.
Yes, the `list_central_network_members` tool lets agents pull all members from a Central network. This data is used by specialized agents to perform roles like auditing or reporting.
You can use `get_local_status` and `list_local_networks`. These tools provide the raw data that agents interpret to determine if the node is operational or disconnected.
Agents can execute updates using tools like `update_controller_network` or `update_central_network_member`. The crew handles the necessary confirmation steps after an update is proposed.
This server manages network topology and member lists. It touches ZeroTier networking metadata, specifically peer identifiers and network IDs, but never handles sensitive user credentials or personal identifying information.
