Programmatic Management of ZeroTier Networks

The MCP Server lets your enterprise agents manage the entire lifecycle of virtual LANs. You can list all available networks using `list_central_networks` and grab specific details about a single network with `get_central_network`. This gives your agent full visibility needed for complex, multi-stage business processes. Furthermore, your client can programmatically modify the infrastructure using tools like `update_controller_network`, ensuring that any new process or department gets the right virtual connectivity configured before it starts.

Audit and Update ZeroTier Member Configurations

When dealing with critical business data, knowing who has access is everything. Your agent uses `list_central_network_members` to pull a definitive list of authorized users on any Central network. If an employee changes roles or a device needs updating, the client calls `update_controller_network_member`. This action directly configures or authorizes the member status within your managed ZeroTier environment.

Monitor and Control Local Node Status via MCP Server

For agents operating on cloud infrastructure, knowing the local machine's network health is essential. The `get_local_status` tool provides that crucial real-time telemetry. It tells your agent if it's connected and where. Need to switch environments? Your client can execute `join_local_network` or `leave_local_network`, allowing the agent to manage its own physical network attachment as part of a larger, autonomous workflow.

Setup guide

Set up ZeroTier MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with ZeroTier tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="ZeroTier_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to ZeroTier tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about ZeroTier MCP in Google ADK

The MCP Server exposes networking actions directly into the toolset that your agent uses. This means network setup and monitoring become just another data source, alongside BigQuery or Vertex AI.
It handles Network IDs, Member lists, and Peer statuses. These identifiers are crucial for linking business processes (like a specific project team) to the correct virtual network segment in your cloud environment.
Yes. Because the agent can execute `update_controller_network` and other management functions, it’s perfect for automating network provisioning steps within a large-scale cloud deployment.
The MCP Server runs in Vinkius's isolated environment. Your agent interacts with the tools through defined, secured endpoints, maintaining strict separation between your core data and network controls.
The `get_local_status` tool provides an immediate status check. Your agent can read this state to trigger compensating actions, like notifying the user or initiating a reconnection attempt.
