Check Local Node Status

To know what's going on, you run `get_local_status` to pull the real-time state of your ZeroTier node. This gives you critical data points about network connectivity and local peers. You can also use `list_local_peers` when you need a quick list of every known device attached to your machine.

Programmatically Join or Leave Networks

The agent handles dynamic connection changes. Use `join_local_network` to programmatically connect the code context to a specific ZeroTier network. When the code block needs to be isolated, running `leave_local_network` disconnects your node cleanly.

Manage Member Authorization via MCP Server

Need to write code that assumes a member is authorized? You can use `update_controller_network_member`. This lets the AI agent configure or authorize members directly into your project's context. This ability, exposed through the MCP Server, makes network state part of your live coding workflow.

Setup guide

Set up ZeroTier MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the ZeroTier MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent ZeroTier transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the ZeroTier tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about ZeroTier MCP in Cursor

Your agent uses ZeroTier tools to pull real-time network context and inject that data directly into the code you're writing. It’s live API responses, not mock stubs.
Yes. You run `list_local_peers` through your agent to pull a list of every known peer connected locally, giving you immediate context for your code.
You configure it by adding the server details into `.cursor/mcp.json` or `~/.cursor/mcp.json` and enabling Agent mode to use the tools.
It provides network state, member lists, and connection details. Your agent uses this structured data to write accurate code that reflects real-world connectivity.
The server manages network configuration details, including member authorization records and local node status information.
