Check Connectivity and Peers via MCP Server

The `get_local_status` tool provides essential connectivity data, letting your script fail fast if the node isn't online. You can pair this with `list_local_peers` to validate all required endpoints are visible. This sequence is perfect for a pre-deployment gate check in any CI pipeline.

Authorize ZeroTier Members in Scripts

Need to change permissions? Use `update_controller_network_member` or `update_central_network_member`. These tools allow your script to handle user authorization changes reliably, which is crucial for infrastructure management. You're not limited to just checking; you can actually modify the network state.

Audit Network Scope and Membership

Running `list_central_network_members` gives your script a definitive list of all authorized users in a global network. Similarly, `list_controller_network_members` audits local access rights. This makes ZeroTier configuration purely scriptable, removing manual steps from deployment.

Setup guide

Set up ZeroTier MCP in Claude Code

Prerequisites

  • Claude Code CLI installed (npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Run the add command

Open your terminal and run the command shown on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com. Use --scope user to make it available across all projects.

  2. 2

    Verify the connection

Start a Claude Code session and type /mcp to list connected servers. You should see zerotier-mcp with a green status indicator.

  3. 3

    Start using tools

Ask Claude Code something like "Check my latest ZeroTier transactions." It will automatically discover and invoke the available ZeroTier tools.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http zerotier-mcp https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp

Common questions about ZeroTier MCP in Claude Code

Use `list_controller_networks`. This provides a full inventory of every network segment controlled by the local node, making your scripts comprehensive for multi-environment testing.
Yes. Run `get_local_status` to confirm local connectivity first. Then, compare the results of `list_local_peers` against expected peer IDs in your script.
It's built for it. Tools like `join_local_network` and `leave_local_network` allow a script to programmatically manage network entry points before running tests.
It does. The `get_local_status` tool gives your pipeline immediate feedback on the physical connection health, preventing wasted build minutes.
The core data type is network access credentials and authorization flags. The script validates these changes via the `update_controller_network` tools.
