Key Capabilities

Audit Form Structures

Need to know what forms exist? Run `list_forms`. This tool gives your agent a complete map of all available Tally form IDs within the workspace. It's crucial for an automated process because you need the right ID before trying to read or modify anything. Agents can check if a form is even active, which prevents runtime errors when handing off tasks between different specialized services.

Audit and Correct Submissions

Your agent needs to track data changes. Use `get_submission` to pull the details for one specific submission record. This lets your multi-agent system validate if the input matches expected criteria before proceeding with a complex task. If something went wrong, you can also use `delete_submission`. Guardrails check this action first, making sure the agent doesn't accidentally wipe out required data.

Scope Management

Don't let your agents get lost in a mess of unrelated data. The `list_workspaces` tool shows every distinct Tally workspace available. This helps the agent define its operating boundaries, ensuring it only acts within the scope you intended. When an agent needs to narrow down searches, listing forms via `list_forms(workspace_id=...)` keeps the process tight and focused.

Setup guide

Set up Tally MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • openai-agents package (pip install openai-agents)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install the SDK

    Run pip install openai-agents to install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use MCPServerSse with your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Tally tools at runtime.

  3. 3

    Create your Agent

    Pass the MCP to Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Tally tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically.

  4. 4

    Run the agent

    Call Runner.run(agent, prompt) to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Tally tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.

agent.py
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse

async def main():
    async with MCPServerSse(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ) as server:
        agent = Agent(
            name="Tally Agent",
            instructions="You have access to Tally tools.",
            mcp_servers=[server],
        )
        result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
        print(result.final_output)

asyncio.run(main())

Common questions about Tally MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Your agent can use `get_submission` to pull specific records and then compare those fields against known standards. This verifies the structure of the submitted data point by point.
Use `list_forms` first. The agent will get a list of all form IDs, allowing it to iterate and check metadata for each one sequentially.
Yes. When you call `delete_submission`, your agent's built-in guardrails validate the action before execution, providing a layer of safety over the deletion process.
Absolutely. The `list_workspaces` tool returns a clear map of every workspace ID associated with your account, helping you define the scope for any agent task.
The server exposes detailed metadata about each workspace, including its unique ID and general details needed to establish a secure operating context for your agent.
