What is the BrasilAPI MCP Server?

Empower your AI agent to orchestrate your entire Brazilian institutional research workflow with BrasilAPI, the modern interface for Brazilian public data. By connecting BrasilAPI to your agent, you transform complex national lookups into a natural conversation. Your agent can instantly geolocate addresses via CEP, audit company profiles using CNPJ, and retrieve banking information without you ever touching a government portal. Whether you are conducting KYC checks or managing national logistics, your agent acts as a real-time institutional analyst, ensuring your Brazilian data is always verified and up-to-date.

What you can do

  • CEP Auditing — Retrieve high-resolution address details for any Brazilian zip code (CEP) and identify neighborhoods and cities instantly.
  • Corporate Oversight — Audit Brazilian companies using CNPJ to retrieve detailed registration metadata, including tax status and economic activity.
  • Banking Intelligence — List all banks operating in Brazil and retrieve official codes and clearing metadata.
  • Asset Monitoring — Query vehicle prices from the FIPE table to understand current market valuations in Brazil.
  • National Monitoring — List national holidays and retrieve state (UF) metadata from IBGE to coordinate regional operations.

How it works

  1. Subscribe to this server
  2. No API Key required (BrasilAPI is a free and open service)
  3. Start managing your Brazilian intelligence through Claude, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible client

Who is this for?

  • Sales Operations — monitor lead addresses and retrieve verified corporate metadata straight from your workflow.
  • Logistics Managers — verify delivery regions and audit national holiday constraints without manual searching.
  • Financial Analysts — perform rapid audits of banking codes and vehicle valuations through natural language.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01

Is an API Key required for BrasilAPI?

No. BrasilAPI is a free and open service. This server works out of the box without any static credentials required.

02

Can the agent validate Brazilian companies?

Yes. Use the get_cnpj_details tool providing the 14-digit CNPJ. Your agent will retrieve the official registration data, including partners and legal status.

03

Is the FIPE vehicle table supported?

Yes. The get_fipe_vehicle_price tool allows your agent to query the latest vehicle valuations in Brazil using standard FIPE codes.

04

Which VS Code version supports MCP?

MCP support requires VS Code 1.99 or later with the GitHub Copilot extension. Ensure both are updated to the latest version. Older versions of Copilot may not expose the Agent mode toggle.

05

How do I switch to Agent mode?

Open the Copilot Chat panel and look for two mode options: "Ask" and "Agent". Click "Agent" to enable autonomous tool calling. In Ask mode, Copilot provides conversational answers but cannot invoke MCP tools.

06

Can I restrict which MCP tools Copilot can access?

Yes. VS Code shows a tool consent dialog before any MCP tool is invoked for the first time. You can also configure tool access policies at the organization level through GitHub Copilot settings.

07

Does MCP work in VS Code Remote or Codespaces?

Yes. MCP servers configured via .vscode/mcp.json work in Remote SSH, WSL, and GitHub Codespaces environments. The MCP connection is established from the remote host, so ensure the server URL is accessible from that environment.

08

MCP tools not available

Ensure you are in Agent mode in Copilot Chat. MCP tools only appear in Agent mode.
