Lindy (Autonomous AI Employees)

What is the Lindy (Autonomous AI Employees) MCP Server?

Connect your Lindy.ai account to any AI agent and take full control of your autonomous AI workforce and automated business processes through natural conversation.

What you can do

  • Lindy Orchestration — List all custom autonomous assistants (Lindies) built in your workspace and retrieve their core configurations and prompt instructions directly from your agent
  • Task Execution — Trigger specific Lindies to start asynchronous task runs using dynamic JSON payloads to automate complex business workflows
  • Reasoning Audit — Dump literal LLM reasoning logs for specific run loops to understand how your autonomous agents are making decisions and identifying steps
  • Run Monitoring — Track the state of active executions and manage lifecycle controls, including the ability to cancel runs stuck in context loops securely
  • Integration Visibility — Enumerate secure connections to third-party apps like Slack, Gmail, and CRM systems to manage your AI's reach across your software stack
  • Workspace Management — Navigate organizational boundaries and team structures to understand how Lindies are distributed across your company

How it works

  1. Subscribe to this server
  2. Enter your Lindy API Token
  3. Start managing your autonomous AI workforce from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible client

Who is this for?

  • Operations Managers — automate repetitive workflows by triggering specialized Lindies and monitoring their execution history through natural conversation
  • Developers — debug autonomous agent logic and inspect reasoning logs directly from your workspace without manual API testing
  • Founders & Leaders — audit AI integrations and monitor the performance of your automated workforce across different team boundaries efficiently

Why Cursor?

Cursor's Agent mode turns Lindy (Autonomous AI Employees) into an in-editor superpower. Ask Cursor to generate code using live data from Lindy (Autonomous AI Employees) and it fetches, processes, and writes. all in a single agentic loop. 10 tools appear alongside file editing and terminal access, creating a unified development environment grounded in real-time information.

  • Agent mode turns Cursor into an autonomous coding assistant that can read files, run commands, and call MCP tools without switching context

  • Cursor's Composer feature can generate entire files using real-time data fetched through MCP. no copy-pasting from external dashboards

  • MCP tools appear alongside built-in tools like file reading and terminal access, creating a unified agentic environment

  • VS Code extension compatibility means your existing workflow, keybindings, and extensions all work alongside MCP tools

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01

Can I see exactly how my Lindy made a specific decision?

Yes. Use the get_run_logs tool with a specific Run ID. Your agent will retrieve the literal LLM reasoning loops and step-by-step validations, giving you full transparency into the autonomous agent's logic.

02

How do I trigger an autonomous task through a conversation?

The trigger_lindy tool allows you to start an asynchronous task run. You just need to provide the Lindy ID and a JSON payload defining the inputs for the task. Your agent will fire the job and return a Run ID for status tracking.

03

Can my agent list which third-party apps my Lindies are connected to?

Absolutely. Use the list_integrations tool to retrieve all active third-party app connections. Your agent will report which channels (like Slack, Gmail, or HubSpot) are securely connected to your workspace.

04

What is Agent mode and why does it matter for MCP?

Agent mode is Cursor's autonomous execution mode where the AI can perform multi-step tasks: reading files, editing code, running terminal commands, and calling MCP tools. Without Agent mode, Cursor operates in a simpler ask-and-answer mode that doesn't support tool calling. Always ensure you're in Agent mode when working with MCP servers.

05

Where does Cursor store MCP configuration?

Cursor looks for MCP server configurations in a mcp.json file. You can configure servers at the project level (.cursor/mcp.json in your project root) or globally (~/.cursor/mcp.json). Project-level configs take precedence.

06

Can Cursor use MCP tools in inline edits?

No. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode through the chat panel. Inline completions and Tab suggestions do not trigger MCP tool calls. This is by design. tool calls require user visibility and approval.

07

How do I verify MCP tools are loaded?

Open Settings → Features → MCP and look for your server name. A green indicator means the server is connected. You can also check Agent mode's available tools by clicking the tools dropdown in the chat panel.

08

Tools not appearing in Cursor

Ensure you are in Agent mode (not Ask mode). MCP tools only work in Agent mode.
