What is the Browse AI MCP Server?

Connect your Browse AI account to any AI agent and take full control of your no-code web scraping and automated monitoring workflows through natural conversation.

What you can do

  • Robot Orchestration — List and manage all web scraping robots in your account programmatically, retrieving detailed configuration and high-fidelity extraction history
  • Automated Task Execution — Programmatically trigger new robot runs with custom parameters (e.g., origin URL) to coordinate high-fidelity data collection in real-time
  • Website Monitoring Intelligence — Create and manage monitoring schedules to track changes on any website and maintain a perfectly coordinated data pipeline
  • Event Architecture — Access and monitor robot webhooks for instant notifications and retrieve detailed log metadata directly through your agent
  • Financial Visibility — Programmatically track your account subscription status and credit usage to coordinate your automated data quotas efficiently

How it works

  1. Subscribe to this server
  2. Retrieve your Secret API Key from your Browse AI dashboard (Account > API)
  3. Start collecting web data and monitoring sites from Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client

No more manual logging into the dashboard to check individual extraction tasks. Your AI acts as your dedicated data engineer and monitoring coordinator.

Who is this for?

  • Market Researchers — instantly trigger price scraping and competitive monitoring using natural language commands
  • Growth Marketers — automate lead generation from public directories and track site changes without leaving your workspace
  • Developers — integrate high-speed no-code scraping data into custom workflows through simple AI queries

Why Cursor?

Cursor's Agent mode turns Browse AI into an in-editor superpower. Ask Cursor to generate code using live data from Browse AI and it fetches, processes, and writes. all in a single agentic loop. 12 tools appear alongside file editing and terminal access, creating a unified development environment grounded in real-time information.

  • Agent mode turns Cursor into an autonomous coding assistant that can read files, run commands, and call MCP tools without switching context

  • Cursor's Composer feature can generate entire files using real-time data fetched through MCP. no copy-pasting from external dashboards

  • MCP tools appear alongside built-in tools like file reading and terminal access, creating a unified agentic environment

  • VS Code extension compatibility means your existing workflow, keybindings, and extensions all work alongside MCP tools

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01

How do I find my Browse AI Secret API Key?

Log in to your account, navigate to Account > API, and copy your Secret API Key.

02

Can I override the origin URL via AI?

Yes! The trigger_robot_run tool accepts a jsonInput parameter where you can provide an originUrl to override the robot's default settings.

03

How do I check my remaining credits?

Use the get_usage_quotas tool to retrieve information about your current subscription and remaining credits directly from the platform.

04

What is Agent mode and why does it matter for MCP?

Agent mode is Cursor's autonomous execution mode where the AI can perform multi-step tasks: reading files, editing code, running terminal commands, and calling MCP tools. Without Agent mode, Cursor operates in a simpler ask-and-answer mode that doesn't support tool calling. Always ensure you're in Agent mode when working with MCP servers.

05

Where does Cursor store MCP configuration?

Cursor looks for MCP server configurations in a mcp.json file. You can configure servers at the project level (.cursor/mcp.json in your project root) or globally (~/.cursor/mcp.json). Project-level configs take precedence.

06

Can Cursor use MCP tools in inline edits?

No. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode through the chat panel. Inline completions and Tab suggestions do not trigger MCP tool calls. This is by design. tool calls require user visibility and approval.

07

How do I verify MCP tools are loaded?

Open Settings → Features → MCP and look for your server name. A green indicator means the server is connected. You can also check Agent mode's available tools by clicking the tools dropdown in the chat panel.

08

Tools not appearing in Cursor

Ensure you are in Agent mode (not Ask mode). MCP tools only work in Agent mode.
