What is the PayPal MCP Server?
Equip your generative intelligent instances with strict orchestration boundaries mapped directly over the PayPal E-Commerce API. Programmatically instantiate checkout orders natively, process authorized status checkpoints, execute hard refunds securely bounding financial arrays implicitly, and parse subscription structures dynamically fetching continuous log parameters seamlessly.
What you can do
- Order Fulfillment — Trace strict lifecycle bounds generating orders natively or querying parameters securely verifying their complete operational states
- Financial Capture Pipelines — Dispatch logical constraints executing authorized commands actively processing captures into verified merchant limitations structurally
- Refund Logistics — Enforce operational arrays pushing robust limits explicitly commanding refunds against logged Capture IDs verifying logic dynamically
- Subscription Trees — Extract limits evaluating metadata nodes parsing active billing loops over recurring setups strictly using parameters asynchronously
How it works
- Subscribe configuring boundaries natively to an AI model dynamically (like Claude)
- Add your precise PayPal bounded Sandbox/Live Client ID explicit parameter and Secret credentials securely
- Start dispatching explicit explicit financial payloads modeling real arrays effortlessly natively
Who is this for?
- Software Engineers — configure and validate staging checkout responses locally identifying object outputs without switching to sandbox dashboards
- Financial Operations — evaluate capture loops issuing explicit refunds testing complex ledger logic natively across endpoints
- Customer Success — query dynamic user bounds inspecting exactly whether a recurring subscription object is logistically 'Active' locally directly inside chat

Why Cursor?
Cursor's Agent mode turns PayPal into an in-editor superpower. Ask Cursor to generate code using live data from PayPal and it fetches, processes, and writes. all in a single agentic loop. 10 tools appear alongside file editing and terminal access, creating a unified development environment grounded in real-time information.
- —
Agent mode turns Cursor into an autonomous coding assistant that can read files, run commands, and call MCP tools without switching context
- —
Cursor's Composer feature can generate entire files using real-time data fetched through MCP. no copy-pasting from external dashboards
- —
MCP tools appear alongside built-in tools like file reading and terminal access, creating a unified agentic environment
- —
VS Code extension compatibility means your existing workflow, keybindings, and extensions all work alongside MCP tools

Frequently asked questions
Can I switch explicitly between testing (Sandbox) and Live operational arrays natively?
Yes. The environment parameters expose an explicitly bounded flag globally allowing configuration arrays parsing seamlessly switching requests between Sandbox limits and Live endpoints. Ensure your keys correspond properly.
Is it possible to list explicit mass payment histories filtering natively across accounts?
This particular structural node maps explicit order manipulation limits. Operations resolving broad search queries or complex un-bounded transaction logs aren't exposed natively in this immediate abstraction scope for precise object handling.
Which parameter natively identifies bounds when generating refunds?
Proper financial refunds are mapped utilizing strictly captured payment node structures. You must pass the specific Capture ID explicitly retrieved from logging the 'capture_order' action properly, not just initial limit bounds.
What is Agent mode and why does it matter for MCP?
Agent mode is Cursor's autonomous execution mode where the AI can perform multi-step tasks: reading files, editing code, running terminal commands, and calling MCP tools. Without Agent mode, Cursor operates in a simpler ask-and-answer mode that doesn't support tool calling. Always ensure you're in Agent mode when working with MCP servers.
Where does Cursor store MCP configuration?
Cursor looks for MCP server configurations in a mcp.json file. You can configure servers at the project level (.cursor/mcp.json in your project root) or globally (~/.cursor/mcp.json). Project-level configs take precedence.
Can Cursor use MCP tools in inline edits?
No. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode through the chat panel. Inline completions and Tab suggestions do not trigger MCP tool calls. This is by design. tool calls require user visibility and approval.
How do I verify MCP tools are loaded?
Open Settings → Features → MCP and look for your server name. A green indicator means the server is connected. You can also check Agent mode's available tools by clicking the tools dropdown in the chat panel.
Tools not appearing in Cursor
Ensure you are in Agent mode (not Ask mode). MCP tools only work in Agent mode.
